Advice for future Phillips Scholars
- Start planning early; planning ahead makes a big difference!
- Consult your project advisor and site supervisor to discuss strategies for all aspects of your summer project.
- Seek assistance from campus and community leaders. They can be instrumental in supporting your program.
- Learn to budget money and resources wisely.
- Utilize volunteer helpers when they are available.
- Start recruiting participants before your summer project begins.
- Be flexible and patient. Give your project time to develop.
- Things don't always work out as planned. Have a back up plan just in case.
- Recognize the successes that weren't planned.
- Develop a network. Communicate with other Phillips scholars for ideas and support.
