Years supporting the Fund: 52

Tennant Company is a 130 year-old manufacturer of sweepers, scrubbers and floor coatings, and its products can be seen in factories, office buildings, hospitals, schools and airports around the world. The company was founded in 1870 by George Henry Tennant as a one-man woodworking business, evolved into an important wood flooring and wood products company, and eventually into a manufacturer of floor cleaning equipment. The company is headquartered in Minneapolis and has operations in Michigan and The Netherlands.

In 1973, the company established the Tennant Foundation to further strengthen the ties with the metropolitan community in which it operates and to support non-profit organizations whose objectives meet the criteria set out by the Foundation. Tennant chooses to support the Fund not only because the leaders see the interdependence of the business community and higher education, but also because of the liberal arts, values-based education provided by Minnesota's private institutions.
