Wenger Foundation Scholarships

Years supporting the Fund: 47

The Wenger Foundation, an independent, private foundation established by members of the Wenger family, is pleased to support the Minnesota Private College Fund with scholarships for music education majors.

"My late grandparents, Harry and Ruth Wenger, both began their careers in music education," says Wendy Wenger Dankey, director of the Wenger Foundation. "They shared a love for music and passion for excellence. We're supporting music education students who continue their proud legacy."

In the 1940s, Harry Wenger was the high school music director in Owatonna, Minn., and his enthusiasm and talent helped build an award-winning program. In his spare time, he tinkered with products that would improve music education. Early inventions included a conductor's baton, a snare drum practice pad and a sousaphone chair-which made this heavy instrument manageable for students of any size. Harry Wenger founded the Wenger Corporation in 1946 and the product line has continued to expand over the years. Today, Wenger Corporation is the world's leading manufacturer of innovative specialized equipment for music education and performance.
