Envisioning the opportunity at Mayo Clinic for undergraduates to work on real life projects and inventions through Mayo Clinic Ventures, Meslow designed this program from the ground up. As a retired executive for Medtronic, Inc., he has many years of experience operating at the interface of science, medicine and business and brings this expertise to the program. Meslow works closely with the graduate faculty and licensing managers at Mayo Clinic.
Liz Jansen, PhD., Academic Program Director, email Liz
Jansen is a faculty liaison to the Science and Research Office and adjunct professor of biology at Macalester College where she teaches courses in her home discipline of neuroscience, as well as courses in reproductive biology and community and global health. She enjoys the multidisciplinarity of the program and sees it as a fruitful application of a liberal arts education. Liz works closely with undergraduate faculty mentors on each campus.
Katie Campbell, PhD., Mayo Clinic Liaison – MISP, email Katie
Campbell received a B.A. from the College of St. Benedict/St. John’s University and completed her PhD at Mayo Graduate School. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology at Mayo Clinic and serves as the Mayo Clinic Liaison for MISP. In this role, Campbell helps to coordinate the Orientation and Presentation days and promote MISP within Mayo Clinic.
Sandy Malecha, Program Administrator, email Sandy
Sandy received a B.A. from St. Olaf College and an M.A. in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from the Carlson School at the University of Minnesota. Prior to her current role with MISP, she served as an internship program director and pre-health career coach at St. Olaf College. Sandy works closely with campus liaisons.
