A mechanical–aerospace engineer, computer science professor and CWST Center Coordinator, Ng is a campus leader refining St. Kate’s approach to increasing women’s participation in science, technology, engineering and math fields. She also teaches an "engineering for everyone" course–one of the first college courses of its kind in Minnesota. |
Working with colleagues across departments, her efforts have resulted in foundation and corporate support to recruit and retain women in science and engineering, scholarships to underwrite students’ study in STEM fields and to pilot new programs to encourage K-12 girls in these areas of study and career choice. |

Murphy has led a faculty collaboration to create a STEM Minor for Teachers-in-Training. The minor consist of 5 interdisciplinary courses to give students a technological and scientific edge. STEM Minor courses are interdisciplinary and taught using integrated methods such as hands–on activities, problem based learning and the use of technology. |
Murphy has over fifteen years of experience in the science and environmental education field -teaching in residential centers in Ireland and the US; developing science and environmental curriculum for teachers and students in Ohio, Minnesota and nationwide; organizing, coordinating and teaching in various professional development educator workshops based on climate change and environmental monitoring themes. He worked on a White House international environmental education and science initiative for over 2 years called the GLOBE Program (Global Learning and Observations to benefit the Environment). |
