new transfer students in 2022
come from other Minnesota colleges
are students of color or Native American students
Many of our schools have night, weekend or other programs that allow students to continue working and caring for families while going to school. Others offer the “traditional” undergraduate experience for transfer students.
Block transfer options
Did you know that 44 percent of our transfer students come from Minnesota State two-year colleges?
For community college students who have completed the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum or earned an associate of arts degree, block transfer can make things simpler. The Minnesota Transfer Curriculum and AA degrees meet core curriculum or general education requirements at 12 of our institutions.
If all credit transfer policies are met, students coming with Associate of Arts degrees may have enough credits to have junior standing. (The amount of time left to complete a bachelor’s degree, however, will vary and may require more than two years. Time to graduation will also be affected by a student’s chosen major. Note that each institution may have some additional unique graduation requirements, such as language, philosophy or religion courses.)

For students who have not completed the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum or an associate of arts degree and are interested in transferring to these 12 institutions, determining how existing coursework will be handled for transfer is based on a course-by-course review. That’s also the general process at the six private institutions that do not have block transfer policies.
