January 2022

Our colleges are planning to hold Minnesota Private College Week this June, after a two-year hiatus. However, a number of change are being rolled out.

Four days this year
The event will be held four days instead of five this year – Tuesday, June 21 through Friday, June 24 — to accommodate the observance of Juneteenth on Monday, June 20. (Several of our member colleges are closed that day.)

Up to three sessions per day
Our institutions will be able to offer up to three sessions per day instead of just two. This is being done to offer more opportunities for visitors. Each institution will offer at least one session per day. The new session start times are:

  1. 9:30 a.m.
  2. Noon
  3. 2:30 p.m.

Session length
To accommodate the addition of a third visit session per day, most sessions will run two hours in length, so 30 minutes shorter than in the past. However, a couple institutions may still hold longer sessions; these will be clearly noted.

Number of people per visit session
Some colleges will set limits on how many people are able to register for each session. This hasn’t been the case in the past. This will be finalized before registration opens.

Number of allowed guests
We will be reducing the number of guests students are allowed to bring with them on their visits. This will be determined in the coming weeks.

Registration open date
The date that registration opens has been moved from April 1 to May 1.

Order or download event materials

The Council offers free handouts that you can order to distribute to students and parents. Place an order by Feb. 28 to reserve copies.

We also will be updating our downloadable flyers and graphics in the coming weeks to so please watch for updated files on our website. We'll also mention this in future counselor newsletters.

Group visits during Minnesota Private College Week

We are in process of determining our policy around counselors and others registering to bring groups of students, so stay tuned for more information.
