January 2017

The cold, the snow the ice. It’s enough to make many people hibernate until May. But not in Minnesota. We embrace it — and so do our colleges. We asked our colleges to send us photos of students engaged in some type of wintry activity or sport. Yes, there’s a good share of hockey photos, but a few others might surprise you. So curl up, stay warm and explore the cool side of our colleges.

Carleton College's Cowling Arboretum trails
Carleton College's Cowling Arboretum trails are groomed for both classic and skate skiing. The trails in the Upper Arboretum are specifically groomed for skate skiing, while only small portions of the trails in the Lower Arboretum are wide enough to allow skate ski grooming. All trails are considered multiple use, so walkers or snowshoe users may be encountered at any time.
